Oro Nami Closed Permanently

As reported at YeahThatsKosher and previously confirmed by anonymous sources to Kosher Food and Drink, Oro Nami in DC is permanently closed. They had previously claimed to be closed for renovations, but it seems they will not be reopening.

You’ll recall that I reviewed Oro Nami at their grand opening. They improved a bit on subsequent visits, but suffered from a somewhat shabby set of furniture, a hard-to-find location (including lack of adequate signage), and an inability to really elevate their sushi offerings. I think that there was some genuine potential in the concept, but it was apparently under-capitalized and couldn’t make the necessary improvements for success. The restaurant business is tough, and the kosher restaurant business even more so.

Oro Nami’s closure has now reduced DC’s kosher restaurant offerings to Char Bar, Oh Mama Grill, the JCC cafe, and Pow Pow.
