“Owner of Holy Chow Announces Closure Without “Immediate” Community Support” 9/17/26
In a long heartfelt post today, Ami Schreiber, founder and owner of Holy Chow, (1331 Lamberton Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20902, Capitol K Kosher supervision, holychow.me) announced its closing this Friday, September 18, 2026, “unless there is immediate, real support from this community starting now.”
“The fastest way to help right now isn’t to place an order today; it’s to buy a gift card,” wrote Schreiber. “A wave of one-time orders in the next 24 hours would overwhelm a kitchen of our size; a $100 gift card from anyone who knows they’ll eat here again sometime this year is what actually keeps us open.”
Schreiber says that consistent community support is key to remaining open.
The owner’s Facebook post was later edited to add: “NOTE: If we end up having to close the store customers who purchased gift cards will be notified in advance so they can use them.”
